Location and Size
The Meade USD
226 school district consists of two traditional schools located in
Meade, Kansas. Meade Elementary and Junior High is a PS-8th
grade building with approximately 330 students. This building
was renovated in 2007. Meade High School is a 9-12 building
with approximately 140 students. The district also provides a
Learning Center to allow credit recovery for high school students
and non-traditional students the opportunity to earn a high school
diploma.
This
southwestern Kansas community school district has an estimated
population of about 1600 people.
Faculty and Staff
Meade Elementary and Junior High employs one full-time principal and 31 part-time and full-time certified teachers. The staff consists of 15 aides and paraprofessionals, three cooks, three custodians, one Technology Integration Specialist, one full-time secretary, and one part-time secretary. The student-to-teacher ratio is approximately 11:1.
Accreditation
Meade Elementary and Junior High has received state accreditation status for the Kansas Department of Education and national accreditation from AdvanEd-NCA.
