Congratulations to our MHS Lady Buffaloes and Buffaloes on a terrific HPL League Tournament!  The streak continues as our Buffalo team remains undefeated.  Playing for the league championship title, our boys took the court against the Cimarron Bluejays determined to bring the trophy home.  Their efforts paid off as the boys defeated the Jays by a score of 67-58.  Earlier in the day our Lady Buffaloes captured the 3rd place spot with their win over the Sublette Lady Larks.  Our Lady Buffs led the Larks all four quarters and finished the league tournament with a 47-34 victory.

COACH PETRIE'S WRESTLING UPDATE: In the last week, Saturday to Saturday, the Meade High School Wrestling Team has traveled over 1,000 miles, been involved in 3 tournaments and 1 double dual.  This is what wrestling season is all about, getting kids on the mat, seeing where they have improved, and also getting a chance to wrestle kids from other places.  We started last weekend at Walsh, Colorado where the team competed in the Baca County Wrestling tournament.  Teams from Colorado, Kansas, and Texas were there. Chance West placed 4th in the tournament.  On Tuesday, the wrestlers went to Cimarron for a double dual with Cimarron and Larned. Derek Foster got his first win of the year on Tuesday.  Friday night we were back in Cimarron for a 8 team tournament.  Jordon Woodruff placed 3rd, Dylan Wornkey placed 4th, Anthony Schmidt placed 3rd, and Derek Foster placed 4th.  On Saturday we traveled to Stafford High School for 20 team tournament.  Chance West placed 2nd, Dylan Wornkey placed 3rd, and Jordon Woodruff placed 3rd. A lot of wrestling this past week, as a wrestler and a coach these are the weeks you like.  You get a lot of matches in, get a chance to wrestle others that you haven't seen before, and you get a chance to travel to different places that you may not have been before.  We would like to thank all of those who traveled to see our team in action.  Many grandparents and other relatives were also there.  It was nice to see all of you there to support us.

Our junior high Buffaloes have the week off to prepare for their league tournament.  The first round starts Wednesday, February 1st in Lakin.

MHS Seniors to Host Benefit Dinner: The MHS Senior Class will be hosting a benefit dinner on January 28, 2012 at 5:00 pm at the MHS vs Guymon basketball games. All proceeds go to the family of MHS senior Cody Deason. Cody is a recipient of a heart transplant, but his body is now rejecting the heart. He is currently in Denver at the Denver Children’s Hospital undergoing treatment. He will potentially be in Denver for three more months.
The meal will be lasagna, dinner roll, green beans, and a dessert.  Serving will begin at 4:00pm, and you will be able to get yours "to-go."  Please come help us support one of our own; the cost of the meal is a freewill donation.
