It's the Final Countdown!

March 13 - 26

Welcome back!  We are on the final countdown to the end of our 2016-17 school year.  With just about 9.5 weeks of school left it will fly by quickly.

CONGRATULATIONS to our MHS Lady Buffaloes!  Our girls traveled to Manhattan to compete in the KSHSAA State Basketball Tournament.  Thursday evening the girls scored a nice win over Hill City, defeating them by a score of 57-46.  Friday the girls faced Wabaunsee in the semi-final match up.  It was a tight game.  Unfortunately our Lady Buffs came up one short, falling by a score of 47-48.  It was a fight for third as our girls gave Valley Falls all they had.  In the end, the Lady Buffs were too much for the Lady Dragons.  Our girls brought home the hardware, defeating Valley Falls by a score of 51-40.  A BIG BUFFALO SHOUT OUT  to our MHS Cheer Team and Band!  They did an amazing job this season.  It is always great to hear our school song, especially at State.  For sure, we have the best Cheer Team in the State!  They were fantastic!

CONGRATULATIONS to our MHS Basketball players earning HPL honors.  The 2017 HPL Girl Player of the Year is Jaylin Stapleton.  Jaylin was also selected for the 1st Team by unanimous choice.  Bailey Lewis earned 1st Team honors as well.  Makenna Rudzik was selected for 2nd Team, and Brooke Reimer received Honorable Mention.   Our Lady Buffaloes were the regular season champions and the league tournament champions.  Lawson Luetters earned 1st Team honors for the Buffaloes this year.  Second Team honors were awarded to Martin Iglesias.

CONGRATULATIONS to our MHS Lady Buffaloes and coaches, our MHS Cheer Team, our MHS/MJH Band, and our Lady Buffalo Fans!  Each year all schools competing in the state tournament are eligible to receive the KSHSAA State Basketball Tournament Sportsmanship Award.  This year Meade earned the Sportsmanship plaque, the highest recognition.  We are proud to be acknowledged as a school and community that demonstrates outstanding sportsmanship.  2017 KSHSAA Sportsmanship Recipients

GOOD LUCK to our MHS Forensics team!  They will travel to Kismet/SWH to compete in the HPL meet Wednesday.  Then, Thursday they are off to Montezuma/South Gray.

Our teachers will host Parent/Teacher Conferences Tuesday from 4:00-8:00pm.  These conferences will be held by invitation only.  However, if you would like to visit with your student's teachers please contact their school to schedule an appointment.

The annual MHS Football Highlights & Dessert Night will take place Thursday at 7:00pm in the MHS Commons.  All MHS Football players, their families, and Buffalo Football fans are invited to attend.  Each player/family and Buffalo fans are asked to bring a dessert to share.  This is a fun night to celebrate MHS Football and enjoy delicious desserts.

Our juniors will host the Junior/Senior Prom Saturday evening.  The public is invited to view the decorations and take pictures at 5:30pm, then stay for the Promenade beginning at 6:30pm.  Admission for viewing and promenade is just $1.00.  The prom committee asks the public to enter through the southeast doors just inside the gated area.  The dinner and dance will follow.

BOE ANNOUNCEMENT:  The Board of Education has voted to implement a 6:00pm start time for all the remaining meetings of the fiscal year and July.  This will be revisited in July when they set the time, date, and location for regularly scheduled meetings of the 2017-18 year.  The regularly scheduled board meetings for April, May, June, and July will begin at 6:00pm in the District Office.

LOOKING AHEAD:  The high school spring athletes will have their pictures taken Monday, March 27th.  Our junior high track team's new uniforms have not arrived.  Once they are here, a picture date will be scheduled and the information will be posted.
