The Earth Balloon visits MES
Our MES/MJH students received a special treat when the Earth Balloon made at stop at our school. The Earth Balloon visit was sponsored by our Meade County Conservation District and the K-State Research and Extension. The balloon model of our Earth is 17' tall and 19' wide. During the presentation students learned valuable information about conservation education and steps we can all take to protect our Earth. They discussed ways we hurt or destroy our Earth, ways we can help and heal it, as well as how to prevent bad things from happening to our Earth. Our students were able to enter the Earth Balloon and sit inside for part of the lesson. Visible features included the Ring of Fire, islands, continents, mountains, valleys, islands and more. Part of the lessons also included learning about plate tectonics and the rain shadow effect. We would like to send a BIG BUFFALO THANK YOU to the Meade County Conservation District and the K-State Research and Extension office for bringing the Earth Balloon to us and helping us learn more about our valuable planet.
