MJH Musical Headlines

Congratulations to our junior high musicians who have been working hard to develop and share their talents in various ways.  The JH band started the school year practicing pep band music for the JH pep rallies as well as playing with the high school band for the home football games.  In October, Caleb Howard (trumpet) and Steve Pi (trombone) were selected from taped auditions to perform at the Southwest District Honor Band in Dodge City on November 4.  They dedicated several hours in preparation both individually and in rehearsal with the other 90 students from SW Kansas who were selected for the Honor Band.

Caleb Howard and Brian Reimer are both Meade Junior High vocal students who auditioned for and were accepted into the All State Middle Level Choir.  To be able to sing in this choir requires exceptional vocal talent and is truly a high honor.  They will sing at the Kansas Music Educators Conference at Century ll in Wichita on February 23rd.

Last but not least,13 Meade Jr High students auditioned for and were accepted into the Southwest Kansas District KMEA Middle School Choir. They will sing at Dodge City on January 20th.  Those students participating are Melia Friesen, Kaya Hartnett, Taryn Inlow, Kate Orr, Lexie Potter, Haley Thompson, Kiana Unruh, Emily Flowers, Leilani Schnelle, Brian Reimer, Zach Volden, Caleb Howard and Mack Pulkrabek.

These music students carry on the great musical tradition that has been established at Meade Schools.

Now the MJH band and choir are busy preparing music for the Christmas Concert to be given on December 19 at 7:00 pm.  We look forward to seeing you there and helping you celebrate this wonderful time of the year with the gift of music.
