This Week at USD 226

February 12 - 17

Tuesday MHS will recognize the contributions of our senior athletes, cheerleaders, and their parents.  Those being recognized are asked to gather at the east end of the gym when there is about two minutes left in the girls' varsity game.  The special recognition will take place at the conclusion of the varsity girls' game.

MHS Forensics Update: Our Forensics team has been busy being awesome this season.  In Holcomb, Percy Pensirisomboon qualified for State again by earning 1st Informative Speech. Dawson Bennett took 6th place original Oration.  MaKayla Bennett earned 4th place in humorous solo, while John Loewen took 5th place in the event.  Jonoh Hughes and Nathaniel Reimer combined their talents to capture 3rd place in  Duet.  At the Satanta meet, Makayla Bennett showed improvement by moving up to 3rd in Humorous Solo.  John Loewen took 5th place in the same event.  Jonoh Hughes earned the 5th place recognition in Poetry.  Jonoh Hughes and Nathaniel Reimer performed their Duet, earning a 5th place finish.  Last week MHS hosted a home meet.  With a lot of hard work, amazing volunteers, and preparation it was a great event.  A BIG BUFFALO THANK YOU to everyone who helped make the event a success!

MJH Quiz Bowl News:  Last week our MJH Quiz Bowl team traveled to Leoti where the varsity team of Michala Goff, Joshua Hughes, Haley Thompson, Ian Unruh, and Zach Volden went 6-2 and brought home the second place medals.  Cheyenne Meairs, Cullen Lumry, Zach Hawley, Alyssa Gipson, and Cayden Fox represented our JV team.  They went 4 and 4 for the day.  This week they travel to Lakin.  Thursday they will host their annual home meet.  This is a great time to show your support for our Quiz Bowl teams, be impressed with their wealth of knowledge, and probably learn a few things.

MHS Cheer Fun: The weather forecast for Tuesday may be a bit chilly, but it will be tropical at MHS! Join the MHS Cheerleaders as they host "Hawaiian Night" for our final regular home game of the season.  Come decked out in your grass skirt, colorful leis, hibiscus hairpieces, and Hawaiian shirts and join the fun as we celebrate a great 2017-18 season!
