Events and Activities for This Week!

September 17 - 22

A BIG BUFFALO THANK YOU to SCCC for hosting last weeks Friday Night Football Tailgate Party!  We appreciate the good food and fun times.

All MHS Senior parents are invited to attend an informational meeting Monday evening at 7:00pm in the MHS Commons.  Mrs. Ziebart will be leading the meeting.  She will discuss college information, answer questions regarding completing the FAFSA application, and offer scholarship guidance.

Our MHS Lady Buffalo Tennis team will host their home meet Tuesday beginning at 3:00pm.  Come out to support our girls and cheer them to victory!

DAY CHANGE:  Due to a conflict the Rise and Shine Assembly will take place Thursday, September 20th.  MES students in Kindergarten through 6th grade will host their first Rise and Shine Assembly Thursday at 3:00pm in the MES/MJH auditorium.  The public is invited to attend.

MJH Athletics:  Our Lady Buffaloes traveled to Lakin earlier to participate in their Saturday tournament.  Our A team girls fought hard in their pool to earn their way to the championship match.  They took Lakin to three sets, but unfortunately didn't get the win.  Our girls did a great job of playing as a team and fighting to win every point.  Our B team girls missed the championship match up by just 4 points.   Our A team girls defeated Cimarron in two quick sets last week (10,7).  Our B team girls played well, but could not capture the win.  In C team action our girls scored a nice win.  On the football field, our mighty Buffaloes were able to capture a great win against Cimarron.  They played well and scored a 34-0 victory.

MHS Cross Country: The Hesston meet runs their races a bit differently than we are used to seeing.  They run according to grade and school classification.  Ethan Thompson took first place in the Boys 1A-3A Senior race.  Taegan Woodruff finished in 17th place.  Katelyn Wilkerson came in at 26th in the Girls 1A-3A Senior Race.  In the junior division Preston Woodruff finished in 26th place followed by Makaki Keital in 42nd and Khao Petkhai in 45th place.  Vance Shewey came in at 20th and Derrick Gipson at 33rd in the sophomore run. Katie Welsh finished in 10th place.  Madison Bergkamp and Alley Ross finished in 22nd and 24th respectively.  In freshman action, Haley Thompson earned a 9th place finish.  Hayden Golliher finished in 17th place.  Arron Orr crossed the finish line in 25th place.  Close behind was Ian Unruh in 27th place.  Caleb Howard came in at 35th place.

MHS Volleyball: Our girls went 3-0 at the Kinsley quad.  They defeated Kiowa County, Minneola, and Kinsley all in two games each.  Kiowa County: 19, 17; Minneola: 14, 10; Kinsley: 22, 7.

Our MHS All-Star Cheerleaders are selling homecoming mums for the Fall Homecoming game.  Proceeds from the sales will be used to fund their opportunity to perform in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade.  Mum orders are due Thursday, September 20th.  As always, our girls appreciate your support.  Homecoming Mum Order Form

Both MES/MJH and MHS hosted their first Site Council meetings of the year last week.  A BIG BUFFALO THANK YOU  to those who volunteer their time and talents to serving on each council.  Your insight and input help to make our district the best it can be.
