Make Monday your family entertainment night! Under the direction of Mr. Haynes, our MJH vocal students will perform the musical "Tom Sawyer." The entertainment will begin at 7:00pm in the MJH auditorium. You won't want to miss the fun and antics of Tom and the gang!
This week is HOMECOMING at MHS. Coronation will take place at half-time of the varsity boys' game. The MHS Art Department will be holding a silent auction during the game. All pieces up for bid were created by MHS students. The proceeds for the event will be used to replenish the supplies and tools needed in the art department.
PS-8th grade Spring casual individual pictures, class pictures, and group pictures will be taken on Wednesday, February 8. One change from previous years is that individual portraits need to be paid for in advance in the envelope provided. Class pictures also need to be paid for in advance, which is the same policy as last year. If you have any questions please feel free to call MES/MJH at 620.873.2671.
The Meade County Spelling Bee will be held at MES/MJH auditorium at 9:00am on Wednesday, February 8th. Fowler has opted to not attend the Bee this year, leaving Meade as the only community participating. The public is invited to attend the Bee.
MJH Scholar's Bowl Notes: Our 7th grade team earned a 3rd place medal at the Sacred Heart. Our 8th grade team placed fourth. Mrs. Hewitt was very proud of their performance. The team will be heading to Satanta this week. Good luck MJH Scholar's Bowl Team!
Join Us In Supporting One of Our Own: Cody Deason is a senior at Meade High School and the son of Sunnshine and Robby Norris. Cody was the recipient of a heart transplant at the age of three and, until recently, he has lived the life of an active, involved young man. His body is now rejecting the heart. Cody and his mother are staying in Denver at the Denver Children’s Hospital while Cody undergoes treatment. He will potentially be in Denver for three more months. Cody's brother and sister are at home, here in Meade, with their dad continuing with their normal work and school schedules. Kathy Novinger is organizing meals for the Norris family. SHOW YOUR BUFFALO PRIDE! There is a competition among the Booster Clubs for all the basketball teams participating in our sub-state. Each Booster Club is selling $5 "supporter spaces" on the program. The winning Booster Club will get to keep 50% of their sales. All other teams will be able to keep 25% of their sales. LOOKING AHEAD: Meade will host the 2012 Sub-State Tournament March 1st-3rd. This year the girls will play on Monday, February 27th and Thursday, March 1st. The boys will play Tuesday, February 28th and Friday, March 2nd. Finals will be played Saturday, March 3rd. KSHSAA has assigned the following schools to our sub-state: Elkhart, Greensburg-Kiowa County, Johnson-Stanton County, Kinsley, Leoti-Wichita County, Meade, Sublette, Syracuse.
