Events and Activities

March 11 - 23

The 4th and last term of the 2018-19 school year is in full swing now.  Sports competitions will begin next week.  Our high school spring sports team pictures will be taken Tuesday.  Please have your order form and payment ready.

GOOD LUCK to our MHS Forensics students! They will compete in the HPL Tournament Wednesday in Cimarron.

USD 226 will host a Yellow Ribbon Program in March to develop awareness of suicide prevention.  Suicide continues to be one of the leading causes of death among American teenagers and has risen 30% since 2000.  School will be dismissed at 2:00pm on Tuesday, March 26th.  At this time all staff will participate in a training presented by Richard Falcon of Compass Behavioral Health located in Dodge City.  That evening we will host a meal and a suicide awareness presentation for our USD 226 parents.  The meal will begin at 5:30pm in the MHS Commons with the presentation following at 6:30pm.  Thursday, March 28th, Mr. Falcon will be at MHS to present a suicide awareness program to our 7th-12th grade students.  The program will begin at 9:30am.  Parents who choose to not have their student participate in the awareness program are asked to complete an opt-out form.  These can be obtained at either building office.  Please contact Mr. Harshberger for more information.

It is a big weekend for our juniors and seniors.  Our juniors will host the Junior-Senior Prom Saturday evening. The prom will be open to public viewing at 5:30pm.  The promenade will take place at 6:30pm.   The public is invited to take a peek at the fun decorations and our students dressed-up snazzy for the evening.  The dinner and dance will follow.  Our MHS junior and senior parents will host the annual After Prom party following Prom.  These parents have been working hard to provide our students and their dates with a safe night of fun games, good food, and great entertainment.

USD 226 will host the 2nd semester Parent/Teacher Conferences Thursday from 4:00-8:00pm.  These are by appointment, so parents will receive an invitation from their child's teacher.  However, parents are encouraged to contact the teacher if they wish to visit with any teacher.  Our MJH students will host Student-Led Conferences.  All of our MJH parents will receive an invitation with a designated conference time.

MES/MJH will host their third term Buffalo Stomp and monthly Rise & Shine Assembly Friday, March 22nd at 2:50pm in the MES/MJH auditorium.  Family and friends are invited to share time with our MES students as they celebrate their third term and February accomplishments. Our STAR students will be recognized as well as classes earning a Classroom Achievement Flag.

CALENDAR CORRECTION:  The purple calendar has an error on Thursday, March 28th.  The MJH track meet at SWHJH will begin at 4:00pm, not 3:00pm as stated on the calendar.
