MES/MJH will host the Meade County Spelling Bee on Wednesday at 9:00am in the auditorium. The public is invited to attend. The following students will participate: 5th Grade - Olivia Doney, Tyson Knott, Rowdy Schlinker, and Sayler Stapleton; 6th Grade - Abbie Gipson, Ashley Martin, Kate Parker, and Ryker Vieux; 7th Grade - Maya Doney, Tayte Flavin, Chandler Hanks, and Alek Holguin; 8th Grade - Harrison Bachman, Bradon Bird, Brock Keith, and Logan Keith. MJH Basketball Update: Our Buffaloes traveled to Dodge City last week to take on Sacred Heart. This week our teams will host Syracuse. Our Lady Buffs will play in the DP Gym, and our Buffaloes will play at MHS.
MHS Basketball Update: Our Buffaloes scored a nice win at their first home game of the season, defeating the Hodgeman County Longhorns by a score of 60 – 40. They ended the week with a 62-42 win over Syracuse. This week they will travel to SWH Tuesday. A BIG BUFFALO THANK YOU to the Artesian Valley Health System for hosting the game and providing free admission to all the fans. MHS will host Lakin Friday evening.
Friday Night Basketball News: Our 1st Grade will host a sloppy joe meal during the MHS vs. Lakin game. The $5.00 meal includes a sloppy joe sandwich, chips, brownie, and water or tea. They appreciate your support! Our MHS Booster Club will recognize their members between the varsity girls’ and boys’ games. The Meade Citizen of the Year will be honored during halftime of the varsity boys’ game. There will also be a special performance by our MHS Cheer team during the varsity boys' halftime.
LOOKING AHEAD: The MHS HPL basketball tournament will take place next week. Lakin will host the first round. The semi-finals and finals will take place at Garden City Community College. The brackets will be posted as soon as they are made available. MES/MJH will host the HPL Math Contest Wednesday, January 29th. There will be NO school for MES/MJH students that day.

This years’ team includes Harrison Bachman, Bradon Bird, Maya Doney, Kynlee Flavin, Tayte Flavin, Ethan Friesen, Anthony Godfrey, Liz Hawley, Jace Jones, Logan Keith, Walker Koons, Vincent Lynn, Cole Papay, Holly Reimer, and Sam Rickard. Their first competition will be Thursday, January 23rd in Liberal.
