MJH Cheer team

There is a lot going on this week. Our Board of Education has their annual meeting Monday evening beginning at 600pm. Prior to the meeting, the Board will meet to discuss exceeding the revenue neutral tax rate for 2024-25. Our MHS Site Council will meet on Monday at noon. Thursday morning out MES/MJH Site Council will meet in the North Conference Room. Our MES/MJH Site Council includes: Vince Koons, Pat Gleason, Jonathan Dale, Amy Pippitt, Annette Keith, Derrick Kraft, Kristen Gipson, Jennifer Arnold, Corrie McDowell, Susan Dewell, and Derrick Dizmang. We are grateful to the volunteers that serve on our Site Councils. We appreciate your time and input.

Our calendar originally included C-Team volleyball games and JV football on Monday, September 9th. Those have been postponed to a later date. The new date will be posted once it has been confirmed.

Buffalo fans will have a couple of opportunities to support our teams in Meade this week. Our MHS volleyball team will host a tri with Rolla and Minneola on Tuesday, September 10th. Play begins at 4:00pm at MHS. Thursday our MJH teams will host Spearville. Volleyball begins at 4:00pm and our football team kicks off at 6:30pm. Both games will be played at the high school.

A MHS letter jacket is a great gift, and any day is a great day to give your MHS student a gift! Tuesday evening the MHS Letter Jacket salespeople from Sports Connection will be at MHS in the Commons ready to help you pick out the perfect jacket for your MHS Buffalo. The booth will be set up from 5:00-7:00pm.  Please note the school only handles orders taken that evening.

Mrs. Miller will be taking our MHS Forensics students to the Kansas State Fair Thursday. There they will be entertained listening to the Kansas High School Forensics Champion Showcase. This is a great learning experience for our students.

Thursday our 8th grade and sophomore classes will have the opportunity to participate in Reality U™. Minneola is hosting the event again this year. Our sophomore students will attend the first morning session while our 8th grade will attend the second morning session. Reality U™ Aims To:

  • Teach teens that their performance in school today can affect their financial future.

  • Provide students with the opportunity to learn and practice personal finance skills.

  • Mobilize the community to become involved stakeholders in education, particularly financial literacy education in their local schools.

  • Integrate Individual Plan of Study components into the Reality U™ preparation, the simulation/booths, and the debriefing process.
