YIKES! My apologies to you regarding my Dr. Seuss Day reminder. Dr. Seuss Day has been canceled.
I thought I was going to get ahead of the game, so prior to leaving for Spring Break I scheduled a Dr. Seuss Day reminder to appear at 2:00am today. Unfortunately, due to current events, our Dr. Seuss Day has been cancelled. Equally unfortunate, I forgot to remove the scheduled post. I know many people saw the post. Some sent DMs about it (THANK YOU!). I immediately deleted the post from our Live Feed, Facebook, and Twitter. Again, I apologize for the confusion.
Have a great day and stay safe,
Stacy Cordes
*This post is WAY to long to be a tweet, so hopefully our Twitter followers are FB and LF followers as well.

Parents/Students - please check out the Meade USD 226 website and/or our Facebook page for details regarding staff planning for educating students to hopefully start by March 30. Meals will be served FREE to ALL children 1-18 starting Monday, March 23.

Even though school buildings have closed in Kansas, education will not end. A KSDE Task Force will release ideas today to help schools provide continuous learning. In turn it will take Meade USD 226 some time to put local plans in place for meals as well as learning. Expect more announcements in the next several day.

This afternoon, Gov. Kelly announced schools would be closed until the end of the school year due to COVID-19. KSDE will give guidance soon on how schools provide "continuous learning" for students during this time. Offering take home meals is also something which may be allowed.

The Commissioner of Education, Randy Watson, along with the Kansas BOE, KSDE, KSHE and the Speaker of the House is strongly recommending all schools in Kansas close March 16th through the 20th. While Meade USD 226 is on Spring Break, the school will be closed for all activities.

Yesterday KSHSAA canceled Regional Music and today they announced - "Effective Monday, March 16, all spring sports and activities are suspended through Sunday, March 22. This includes cancellation of all practices and competitions." Please monitor our social media for updates.
